Kraftwerk recently presented their Catalogue 12345678 across eight nights at London’s Tate Modern, drawing unreserved admiration from the world’s media in the process. These breathtaking 3-D shows were universally lauded, none more so than in the UK press. The Observer ran with the headline “Why Kraftwerk are still the world’s most influential band”, The Independent On Sunday declared “they anticipated our 21st century computer world decades ahead of its time”, Time Out proclaimed “Kraftwerk’s influence on dance, hip hop and pop is unparalleled”, Q Magazine called the live presentation “a full-on gesamtkunstwerk: a total art experience”, and The Times observed “Kraftwerk’s genius is to mirror the modern age and let us draw our own conclusions…”

Now, Kraftwerk will perform from their groundbreaking catalogue with full 3-D visuals on Sunday November 3 at Eldborg in Harpa. The time of the show will be announced shortly.

The show is included in the Iceland Airwaves ticket price but please note that there is a limited amount of tickets available. Only Iceland Airwaves wristband holders have the chance to get into the show. Tickets will be handed out to wristband holders on a “first come, first served” basis on Friday, November 1 at 16.00 at Harpa.

We are very proud to announce a free music showcase at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC on February 24. Featuring three of the brightest new talents in the Icelandic music scene, the showcase will include delicate electronic songstress Soley, Afropop/indie septet Retro Stefson and electro-pop unit FM Belfast.

The showcase will be part of the month-long Nordic Cool program at the Kennedy Center, highlighting the diverse cultures of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden.

Before embarking on a solo career, Soley already toured the world as part of respected Icelandic bands Seabear and Sin Fang. The bespectacled multi-instrumentalist’s latest solo work, 2011’s full-length We Sink, made tastemaker outlet My Old Kentucky Blog say “Soley’s lyrics are spoke-sung with such moist sweetness; butter should just nestle into the corners” while the lyrics themselves are “marked by the shadowy drama of an Ingmar Bergman epic.”

Armed with superior pop hooks and Afro-beat elements, Retro Stefson’s self-titled 2012 album yielded two #1 singles in Iceland last year. The group’s seven-person line-up includes dual key/synth players as well as percussion and drums, turning their live shows into relentless dance parties.

FM Belfast is not just a band; it is a community. Making melodic and beat-centric electro-pop, the group’s live shows include multiple percussionists, a synth arsenal and multiple vocalist bliss. It’s no wonder they have captivated audiences worldwide.

We hope you can make it out! It will be FUN!
