Based in Reykjavík, Skoffín started off as the solo project of Jóhannes Bjarki Bjarkason but has since evolved into a dynamic 4-piece powerhouse punk group. The band’s debut LP, “Skoffín bjargar heiminum” (e. “Skoffín saves the world”) was released in April 2019 by local grassroots collective post-dreifing, partly run by the band’s members. Gathering praise from critics and punks alike, it was nominated for the prestigious annual Kraumur music award. Having spent the rest of 2019 excessively touring Iceland, playing an impressive run of close to 50 shows, the band was back in the studio by the end of the year to record their follow-up: “Skoffín hentar íslenskum aðstæðum” (e. “Skoffín: suitable for Icelandic conditions”), released in May 2020. This time working with London-based producer Árni Árnason (of The Vaccines), the band’s sophomore release demonstrates a step forward in production as well as songwriting – manifesting Skoffín’s place as one of the most exciting new acts in town.
