It’s Pride Week 2018 in Reykjavík, one of Iceland’s biggest events and one of the “the biggest small Pride” events in the world, attracting around 100,000 attendees from all around the globe. This year, Iceland Airwaves is proud to announce that US singer/songwriter Hayley Kiyoko will be joining the line-up this November as part of her first ever European and UK tour.
Hayley’s debut album Expectations has propelled her to one the most celebrated new artists in the pop landscape. Rolling Stone places Kiyoko “at the forefront of an unapologetically queer pop movement” and VICE states that “Hayley is exactly what we need from a pop star in 2018”. From her outspoken persona and her ground-breaking videos, to her stellar live performance at this year’s Coachella, Kiyoko is redefining the pop landscape as a force to be reckoned with.
Kiyoko joins Iceland Airwaves’ 20th Anniversary line-up, which also features many LGBTQI+ artists and allies including Alma, Blood Orange, Fever Ray, Mighty Bear and Snail Mail. They’re part of a massive line-up which features more than 120 acts from 25 countries, with many more to be announced.
Iceland has enjoyed a long history of LGBTQI+ acceptance and inclusion, you can read more about it over at Iceland Naturally.
