Join Gísli Gunnarsson in celebrating the release of his latest album ‘Úr Öskunni’. The new album shares the story of the volcanic eruptions in Grindavík, the home of the composer. These events left a deep mark on the community, which resonates throughout the record. The forced evacuation, the destruction of home, and the psychological aftermath of months of earthquakes and instability became the canvas of the new full-length. Music, during this time, became more than expression—it became refuge.
This special event commemorates that period but also celebrates the tight-knit community of Grindavík, supporting each other through uniquely challenging times. The concert will be held at the church in the desolate town of Grindavík where Gísli is joined by the Lýra String Quartet in addition to a full band. The concert is open and free to attend for everyone.
