The Danish-Icelandic duo slóra, with vocalist/keyboardist Sara Flindt and drummer/percussionist Svanhildur Lóa, explores the space between improvisation and composition. Their music draws on elements of songwriting while embracing the freedom of the avant-garde, blending synths, piano, drums and pedal manipulation. By exploring and challenging hierarchy in music and language, slóra invites new ways of listening. At the core is Sara’s work with voice and language—embracing the ever-shifting, the unpredictable, and the imperfect, always in dialogue with the present.
Their upcoming debut album, recorded with engineer Lukas Loeb, reflects this process of risk and openness. One piece, tearstobealone, exists in 14 versions recorded over four days, embodying slóra’s commitment to imperfection and to letting the moment shape the work.
