Brian Lowit

Brian Lowit holds the position of Label Manager at Dischord Records and is the Owner of Lovitt Records, both of which are based in the Washington, DC area. In his role at Dischord Records, he is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the label and its staff, and he performs the same duties for Lovitt Records. Additionally, Brian Lowit is an active member of The Recording Academy. Dischord Records, founded in 1980, stands as one of the most influential independent record labels in the music industry. The label is renowned for championing the do-it-yourself ethos and maintaining a fiercely independent spirit. Over the years, Dischord Records has played a pivotal role in releasing records by some of the most significant bands and artists from the past few decades, including but not limited to Minor Threat, Dag Nasty, Fugazi, Henry Rollins, and Dave Grohl. Lovitt Records, another notable label in Washington, DC, has been instrumental in showcasing seminal bands such as The Mercury Program, Engine Down, Frodus, and Sleepytime Trio. Moreover, Lovitt Records has expanded its reach by releasing several records by Icelandic artists, thereby diversifying its catalog and influence.
