OPIA Community & Wise Music Showcase

We are thrilled to be welcoming back OPIA Community and Wise Music Iceland with a showcase of their incredible roster.

Known for their bold and uncompromising sound, OPIA Community brings a fresh perspective and strong creative voice to the festival. Born out of Ólafur Arnalds’ desire to create an environment that encourages experiments and collaboration, OPIA is focused on strengthening the scene where modern-classical music meets electronic and beyond.

Wise Music is an international family of music publishing companies around the world. Since 2024, Wise Music has been working in close collaboration with OPIA Community as co-publishers. This partnership has proven to be creatively fulfilling, reflecting a shared commitment to supporting and promoting great music.

he showcase features three artists: The Vernon Spring (UK), YANA (PL) & RAKEL (IS) – each bringing their own unmistakable energy and sound.

RAKEL is an Icelandic artist blending song, memory, and atmosphere into intimate, layered soundscapes. Her debut album a place to be (out Oct 17), co-created with Danish producer Sara Flindt, weaves real-world sounds from farms, dorms, and studios into songs that defy structure and invite reflection. A collaborator of Nanna (Of Monsters and Men), Axel Flóvent, and Kaktus Einarsson, RAKEL stands out as a quietly singular voice in Iceland’s music scene.

YANA is a Polish composer and instrumentalist known for blending classical instrumentation with electronic textures. A graduate of the Academy of Music in Gdańsk, she crafts deeply emotional soundscapes that explore the human experience. Her second album Daydreamer (released Oct ’24 on Ólafur Arnalds’ OPIA Community label) pairs lush strings with atmospheric electronics to tell a story of transformation — from fear to acceptance — offering a moving reflection on hope, healing, and inner peace.

Sam Beste, known as The Vernon Spring, is a quietly influential artist who’s collaborated with the likes of Amy Winehouse, Gabriels, Beth Orton, and MF DOOM. Since 2019, he’s carved out a distinctive sound blending jazz, soul, ambient, and electronic textures. His new album Under a Familiar Sun marks a bold evolution — merging piano-driven composition with hip-hop influences and intricate, sample-based production, all crafted in his own studio with a circle of close collaborators.
