María has been active in Iceland’s culture scene since 2008. She worked as a manager and events organizer, shaped Reykjavík Music City in its initial years and was later promoted to head Reykjavík’s Cultural Office. She served on the board of Harpa Concert Hall, co-authored a report on COVID-19’s impact on music and helped prepare the establishment of the new national office which she now leads.
