THE SPANISH WAVE IS BACK!

The Spanish Wave returns to Iceland Airwaves 2025 after a packed debut last year that led to a packed Iðnó. Partnering with AIE and the SGAE Foundation, they’re back with a bold “Barcelona Wave,” showcasing four of Spain’s most innovative acts: genre-blurring rockers Panam, electrifying MS OBAMA, the surreal electronic trio Mainline Magic Orchestra, and visionary avant-pop artist María Arnal.

Alongside the iconic Meet the Spaniards! reception and a Spanish industry mission, this showcase promises boundary-pushing music and global connections at the heart of Iceland Airwaves.

Let’s get you introduced!

Meet Mainline Magic Orchestra! The electronic trio from Barcelona has been active since 2020. Known for surreal visuals and dynamic live shows, they’ve toured Europe, Australia, Brazil, and the UAE, and released music on Public Possession and Primavera Labels. Notable performances include Sonar, Meredith Music Festival, Boiler Room, and Primavera Sound, and soon to come Iceland Airwaves

The innovative Barcelona artist  Maria Arnal explores the intersection of voice, dance, and AI. She combines traditional polyphony with synthetic voices and choreography, examining intimacy, femininity, and the sovereignty of the voice in the AI era.

Barcelona-based singer, songwriter, and multidisciplinary artist MS OBAMA blends soul, hip hop, spoken word, and experimental electronics. Her politically and emotionally charged work explores identity, mental health, migration, and womanhood. She released her debut album TEMPLE in 2022 and represents emerging Spanish talent with this Iceland Airwaves showcase.

Barcelona-based alternative rock band Panam formed in 2015. Singing in English, they mix indie, psychedelia, Brit-pop, dance rock, funk, and electronica into cinematic, genre-defying songs that create a unique sonic universe. What a mix!
