Today, Iceland Airwaves, Reykjavík’s critically acclaimed new music festival and music industry conference, has confirmed its third lineup announcement for 2024. Returning to Downtown Reykjavík from 7th – 9th November 2024, the festival’s 25th Anniversary Edition will host some of Iceland’s most exciting local exports amongst beloved global names including Shygirl, Overmono, bar italia and The Vaccines. Tickets & travel packages are available now.

One of 17 new artists announced today, Toronto-born Charlotte Day Wilson will bring her new album Cyan Blue to Iceland; her Juno-nominated blend of soulful R&B beats and crystalline vocals having seen her work with heavy hitters such as KAYTRANADA, Daniel Caesar and Babyface.

In addition to showcasing some of the most exciting names from across the world, Iceland Airwaves strives to platform some of Iceland’s most exciting homegrown artists spanning countless genres – shining a spotlight on the awe-inspiring creative scene responsible for some of the most unique and ambitious artists in the industry today.

Joining the lineup today are local favourites Spacestation, proud outliers of the city’s rock venues and underground bars with a sound that feels like being on the smoking carriage of a night train from Reykjavik to Berlin, stuck in a Bermuda triangle between cosmic 60’s psychedelia, late 70’s post-punk, and motorik German krautrock.

On the other end of the spectrum, Sunna Margrét’s debut album Finger on Tongue solidified her as one of the most intriguing artists to emerge from the country in recent years. Tipped by BBC 6 Music, The Quietus, Under The Radar and Record Collector – her oddball Icelandic take on trip hop promises a captivating performance.

Also announced today—and in collaboration with Music Yukon—is award-winning Canadian singer-songwriter Jasmine Netsena, who learned to sing from her grandmothers in their Indigenous languages from the age of 5, fellow Canadian rising stars Bria Rose N’ Thorns and Jeremy Parkin, and Icelandic up and comers Arnór Dan, Davidsson, Eythor Arnalds, FLOTT, Jónfrí, Kaktus Einarsson, NonyKingz, Supersport! and Vampira.

In addition, one of Iceland’s best kept secrets, Hjálmar will celebrate their 20th Anniversary with a performance at Airwaves, combining the sounds of Jamaica with warm, old school reggae sung entirely in Icelandic.

Speaking about Airwaves’s 25th Anniversary year, Ísleifur Þórhallsson, Festival Manager for Iceland Airwaves says:

“We are incredibly proud to be celebrating not only 25 years of Iceland Airwaves, but 25 years of playing a key part in the careers of some of the world’s most talented artists. Over the years, we have seen many of our Airwaves alumni grow from strength to strength, often developing into some of the industry’s most acclaimed artists. It is an honour to continue to bring new talent to Reykjavík and share our beloved Icelandic community with the world.”

Full details of the festival’s acclaimed industry panel conversations, keynotes, and network parties will soon be announced, alongside details of special performances and partner shows.
