MEET OUR SIX NEW ARTIST AND READ ALL ABOUT THE IA PHOTO EXHIBITION AND CONCERT SERIES
We know you’re all eagerly waiting for the third lineup announcement, and it’s coming soon, we promise! But while summer’s still throwing heat, how about a blast of cool air from some unexpected corners? Yep, we’ve got some fresh and frosty news straight outta Alaska and the Faroe Islands! Get ready for a breath of fresh air!
MEET ALASKA AND THE FAROE ISLANDS
For the first time ever we’re rolling out the welcome mat for Alaska! This incredible state is home to a treasure trove of undiscovered musical talent and we’re thrilled to have Anchorage Music City bringing over three of their freshest acts. The indie-rock trio Casey Smith Project is known for their dreamy and danceable lo-fi indie grooves, with a love for tape delay and modulated synths. Get ready to be blown away by SunDog’s neo-grunge and blinding beauty, a psych-pop band that will leave you in awe. And don’t miss Air Jazz, an African American and Alaska Native hip-hop artist who will take you on a sonic journey of his heritage. You’ll wonder how cool you could be if you were born in Alaska!
Our friends at FMX have become regulars at Airwaves and are known for bringing over artists that make you wonder how on earth such a tiny island can produce such massive talent. Get ready to dance to Dania O. Tausen, who brings an entire universe to the stage. It’s no wonder this reflective and experimental singer has racked up so many local award nominations! Silvurdrongur will introduce you to their very own genres such as Doomer Pop, Haunted Club, and Extinction Punk. Need we say more? Last but not least, Marius Ziska will bring his modern and warm alt-folk landscapes, rich with introspection and intuition. Is there anything the Faroese aren’t good at?
"Have You Been Excited? - Iceland Airwaves Photography 2014-2023" + UPPRÁSIN
DIVE INTO OUR HISTORY ON OUR 25TH ANNIVERSARY
Long-time Airwaves lover and photographer Marcus Getta is unleashing over 80 photos taken at Airwaves from 2014 to 2023 at everyone’s favourite glass building, Harpa. The exhibition opens on November 5th at 7 pm, runs until November 10th, and is free for all!
Following the exhibition’s opening, the monthly concert series UPPRÁSIN, highlighting Reykjavík’s finest grassroots, will take place in Harpa’s hall, ‘Kaldalón’, at 8 pm. Both these events are brought to you by Reykjavík Music City, RÁS2, and Harpa, and are not to be missed if you want to be able to say, “I saw them live at Iceland Airwaves before they got famous!”.
